Bowen Horizons
Overseas Learning Journeys and Cultural Immersion Programmes
The Bowen Horizons provides experiential learning experiences for our students through carefully planned Overseas Learning journeys and cultural immersion programmes.
The Bowen Horizons trips cater to Sec 2 and 3 students and seek to:
- Deepen the 21st Century Competencies (21CC) of global awareness, cross-cultural skills, adaptive thinking and communication skills – through authentic learning that is interdisciplinary and provides for real world application of knowledge and skills;
- Expose them to rich heritage, cultures and strengths of countries in Asia, with a focus on ASEAN countries;
- Strengthen their commitment and rootedness to Singapore, as Bowenians appreciate the unity and diversity of a multicultural society; and
- Enable them to form friendships and networks with international peers while sensitising them to Singapore’s place in the world.
Students who are interested in the trips can apply to join. Successful applicants will be selected for only 1 trip during their Bowen years so as to allow more students the opportunities to participate.
Financing Information :
- Students who are Singapore Citizens will be eligible for at least 50% subsidy for the trip cost. Students on Financial Assistance will receive additional support.
- Students who are Singapore Permanent Residents and International Students will pay the full trip cost.
These trips allow our students to experience what it is like to study in a different cultural, linguistic and/or social environment to what they are so familiar with in Singapore.
